Project Overview
AURA Architecture was appointed to transform the Old Maltings into a residential-led development comprising 21 apartments and two new-build houses, combining reuse of an existing commercial building with carefully planned new development.
Design & Planning Strategy
The project uses a phased planning strategy, developing the conversion progressively while using the existing building and external works to unlock additional residential potential and respond to the former malthouse.
Development Value & Outcome
Published project information records a GDV of £5.85m and states that the design strategy added £1m to the client’s bottom-line profit, demonstrating how planning, space planning and architectural design can improve development performance.
